Holland Park Trip

Today we visited Holland Park for a school trip. The children enjoyed exploring the park and looking at different flowers such as lilies, roses, and tulips. We talked about the colours, shapes, and smells of the flowers and enjoyed spending time outdoors together.

Year 1 Class Assembly

Our Year 1 Jade Class assembly went really well and the children did an amazing job. They spoke confidently using loud, clear voices and shared lots of fantastic facts about the United Kingdom. The children worked very hard to learn their lines and performed with enthusiasm and confidence. We are very proud of how well they represented the class and made the assembly enjoyable for everyone who watched.

Assembly practice

Children are practising hard for their upcoming assembly, developing their confidence in speaking aloud and performing in front of an audience. Pupils have learnt their songs and are working on delivering their lines clearly and confidently, showing growing enthusiasm and engagement throughout rehearsals. They are developing important public speaking skills, including projection, expression and teamwork, and are looking forward to sharing their learning with an audience.

Respect

The children took part in a role-play activity where they explored what respect looks like and how it feels to be treated with kindness and consideration. They acted out different scenarios to show how they can demonstrate respect to others through their words and actions. The children also discussed how everyone is unique, celebrating each other’s differences and understanding the importance of treating everyone fairly and with respect.

Grouping in size and colour

Jade class have been exploring key Maths skills through fun, hands-on activities. They grouped objects by size and colour, helping them develop important sorting and categorising abilities. As part of the activity, they practised counting in 1s, building confidence in number recognition and early counting skills. These playful experiences lay the foundation for strong mathematical understanding.

For Science, we have been learning about different materials and explored how all paper is not the same. The children looked closely at different types of paper and used vocabulary like 'thin' and 'thick' to describe them. They carried out a simple investigation using water to see what happens to the paper. The children noticed that some types of paper absorb the water quickly, while others stay strong or change shape. They enjoyed making predictions, testing their ideas, and talking about what they discovered.

RE

In RE, we explored how Christians and Jewish people show gratitude to God and others, especially during Harvest time when people give thanks for all the food and blessings they receive. The children shared what they are thankful for, such as their mums and dads, friends, pets, and all the wonderful things that make them happy. They created beautiful pieces to show their appreciation and learned that showing thankfulness helps us to spread kindness and joy to those around us.
