Topaz Class is taught by Ms Chambers.

Year 4 is an exciting year, full of new opportunities, learning and challenges. English and Maths are our core subjects, but the children will also take part in a wide range of subjects including Guided Reading, Science, History, Geography, Computing, Spanish, Music and PE. Throughout the year, the children will continue to develop their knowledge and skills through a range of engaging learning opportunities. We are also fortunate to work with specialist sports coaches in PE and music specialists, helping to bring these subjects to life and make learning as engaging as possible.

This year, the children will complete the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), so developing confidence and fluency with their times tables will be a key focus throughout the year. We will use Times Tables Rock Stars to support their learning, with children completing daily practice at home on the platform in preparation for the check.

Homework will be set throughout the week, with English and Maths homework given from Monday to Wednesday and Topic homework set on Thursdays. Regular practice at home will help to reinforce and support the learning taking place in school. We also expect children to read regularly at home and discuss what they have read, helping to develop a love of reading.
