Investigated water resistance by shaping equal amounts of Blu Tack into different shapes and timing how long they took to sink through water. The children made predictions and kept the amount of water and the distance travelled the same to ensure a fair test. They compared their results and drew conclusions about how shape affects water resistance.
investigated air resistance by making and testing parachutes. The children explored how air resistance slows falling objects and how the size of a parachute can affect its descent. They made predictions, observed their parachutes in action and discussed their findings, developing their scientific understanding through practical learning.
Pearl Class brought their learning about the Tudors to life with a visit to the Tower of London. The children explored its history as a fortress, royal palace and prison, discovering stories about Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. The visit sparked thoughtful questions and helped them connect their classroom learning with a historic setting.
Pearl Class have been enjoying weekly visits to The Rhythm Studio, learning to play keyboards, guitars and drums alongside singing. The children are developing their sense of rhythm, listening skills and confidence as they make music together. They have shown enthusiasm, teamwork and dedication as they practise their musical skills.
Year 5 explored installation art by designing and building miniature 3D spaces inside cardboard boxes. The children sketched their ideas and experimented with coloured paper, shapes and textures to bring their designs to life. Working together, they considered how to arrange materials within a space, developing their creativity and construction skills.
During our fire safety workshop, Year 5 pupils explored the importance of fire safety and learnt about the essential measures to take in the event of a fire. The children discussed how to recognise potential dangers, respond appropriately in an emergency and keep themselves and others safe.
Using drama and role-play, pupils acted out different fire safety scenarios, putting their knowledge into practice and exploring the appropriate actions to take in an emergency. This interactive approach encouraged the children to think carefully about their decisions and develop a better understanding of the importance of remaining calm and following safety procedures.
The workshop provided pupils with valuable opportunities to develop their awareness of fire safety, strengthen their problem-solving skills and build confidence in responding to emergency situations. The children participated enthusiastically and demonstrated a positive attitude towards learning these important life skills
