Welcome back Year 1!

 Jade Class is taught by Miss Mohamed.

Year 1 is an exciting and important year as the children continue to develop their confidence, independence and love of learning. Throughout the year, the children will take part in a wide range of subjects, including English, maths, science, history, geography, computing, music and PE.

A key focus in Year 1 will be phonics, as the children continue to develop their reading, writing and spelling skills. We will work hard to build secure phonics knowledge, helping the children to recognise and pronounce sounds, blend sounds to read words confidently and apply their phonics knowledge when writing. The children will also have regular opportunities to develop their reading fluency, comprehension and vocabulary.

Alongside phonics, we will continue to develop important skills in handwriting, spelling, number, problem-solving and independent learning. The children will also enjoy a variety of practical and creative learning experiences throughout the year.

We are looking forward to an exciting and rewarding year in Jade Class, supporting every child to learn, grow and achieve their very best.
