Our Year 3 children have been learning new vocabulary to support their narrative writing. We had lots of fun using drama and actions to explore the meaning of our new words. Acting them out helped us understand the vocabulary and think about how we could use these exciting words in our own narratives.
Year 3 had a fantastic time visiting Phoenix Farm! The children had the opportunity to connect with nature and explore a variety of plants, fruits and vegetables. They even met some very curious chickens! The children took part in an exciting treasure hunt, searching for interesting spots around the farm and discovering more about the natural world. One of the highlights was getting their hands dirty as they dug into the soil and harvested potatoes! It was a wonderful hands-on experience, full of exploration, discovery and lots of fun!
Our Year 3 children have been developing their sketching skills in Art. They explored how to create different tones, from light to dark, by changing the pressure of their pencils. The children enjoyed experimenting with different techniques and creating their own fantastic sketches.
Our Year 3 children have been learning how to play the flute in Music. They practised how to hold the instrument correctly and how to produce different sounds. The children really enjoyed making music together and developing their musical skills!
Our Year 3 children had a fantastic PE lesson with their PE teacher, learning how to play hockey. They practised their hockey skills before working together in teams and playing against each other. The children had lots of fun while developing their teamwork and communication skills!
Year 3 have been developing their addition and subtraction skills using Dienes blocks (hundreds, tens and ones). The children enjoyed using these practical resources to represent numbers, explore place value and solve calculations. By working with Dienes, they were able to visualise how numbers can be partitioned and understand the different steps involved in adding and subtracting. It was a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, strengthen mathematical understanding and make learning fun!
Year 3 have been busy creating some fantastic projects at home to consolidate their learning about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. The children demonstrated incredible creativity, enthusiasm and dedication as they explored these fascinating periods of history. Their wonderful projects showcased their growing knowledge of how people lived, the tools they used and how life changed over time. It was lovely to see so much effort and imagination going into their work and we are incredibly proud of their achievements!
