Values Based Education

Values-based schools seek to promote an educational philosophy based on valuing self, others and the environment through the consideration of an ethical values vocabulary.

Values are principles that guide behaviour. At Addison adults are encouraged to model values and to give time for reflective practices. We believe that this empowers individuals to be effective learners and good citizens.

Through a pupil led project we have identified five core values which are displayed and discussed daily in all classes.  These are: RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, PERSEVERANCE, HONESTY & FRIENDSHIP.

There are 22 values at Addison. We focus on one value every month over a 2 year cycle. Each value has 3 reflection points which enables us all to share and understand a common values vocabulary.

This is a two-minute humorous video to remind us that, 'values should be caught and not talked' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5Xf543kSg8
