Learn Together, Enjoy Together, Achieve Together

About Us

Welcome

Addison is a medium sized primary school educating 3-11 year olds, serving a diverse and vibrant community from the surrounds of Shepherds Bush and Brook Green.

With excellent teaching and strong leadership we are committed to help every pupil excel and reach their full potential – academically, socially and culturally.

We are proud of our beautiful Victorian building with its high windows, bright airy classrooms and happy, purposeful atmosphere. Outside, our large playground includes a brand new adventure play area complete with climbing tower, sandpit, climbing wall and football area.

Underpinning life here at Addison is a clear moral code called our Values-based philosophy. This instils within our children core values, including: honesty, co-operation, tolerance, simplicity, humility, love, respect, peace, responsibility and happiness. This combined with wonderful facilities and a safe nurturing environment, enable our children to achieve excellent results, enjoy a broad curriculum and develop the all-important confidence to succeed.

An enriched curriculum

At Addison we believe every child should progress to the best of their individual ability.

A themed curriculum.  Reading, writing and Maths skills are applied across the curriculum through the New Primary Curriculum, where children learn history, geography, art and science through creative themes, helping them to link their learning and make sense of the world around them.  Historically intrinsic to life at Addison is our music. All children are encouraged to learn an instrument and the school regularly hosts music performances.

Addison University & after-school clubs.  We offer a variety of after-school clubs for sport, art/crafts and languages.  ‘Addison University’ is open to all children on a Friday afternoon.  Working in mixed age-groups, children have the chance to learn new skills through their choice of fun and interesting courses offered by all of Addisons adults.  These range from construction and sewing club to animation courses taught in our new Apple Mac suite.

Be part of your community

Life for Addison children is interesting and fun. Representing a vibrant mix of this West London neighbourhood, it’s our pupils that make Addison great. Their cultural richness can be seen throughout the school – from artwork and projects to assemblies and performances – we celebrate the diversity of cultures. Fostering links with the local community is very important – our children swim in St. Paul’s pool and learn Latin with their six-formers. Most recently our Addison Eco Team pupils went to Petit Miracle Interiors in West 12 where they upcycled old books and maps to make decorations.

Our moral code

Addison has implemented a strong set of moral codes that all our children embrace. Values such as respect, honesty and perseverance are emphasised within the classroom and good behaviour is positively reinforced. Pupils develop good relationships with their teachers and their peers. They understand that supporting one another, regardless of their age, gender or background is an important aspect of school life.
