Religious Education

Religious Education at Addison Primary School:

Each half term the whole school completes an 'R.E Day' where all 5 lessons of the Hampshire Council teaching scheme are taught throughout the day. This scheme is a great framework allowing religions to be taught through conceptual lenses. It allows children to not only learn about religions, but learn from religion. It means that children from any religion or no religion at all can see a part of themselves in every lesson. Having every lesson planned from a concept is a fantastic way to not only link the children personally but also help children contrast and compare how different religions use a certain concept.

Learning Symbols- Each lesson is linked to one of these 5 key words. They help children assess the concept through different perspectives. What do I think? What do my friends think? How do people from different religions think?

Each class completes a Topic Sheet linking to their key concept. Below is an example from Year 1.
