Year 6 is a hugely important year, but also a year full of new and exciting challenges, which we know the children, will rise to and enjoy! The children will be expected to work their hardest to be fully prepared for their important end of primary school assessments and for their transition into secondary school.

English and maths is taught daily and throughout the week.  The children also participate in a range of subjects including: guided reading, science, history, geography, computing, Spanish, music and PE.  Handwriting, times tables and SPAG remain a huge focus in Year 6. English and maths homework is set Monday-Wednesday and Topic homework on Thursday.  Weekends can then be spent practising number fluency (KIRFs) and reading for pleasure.

It is important that the children reinforce and practise their learning at home.  A variety of online resources and websites are available to help them with this - these can be found in the 'Useful Websites' area on the year 6 page.  In addition, you can click on the 'What We Are Learning' icon to find an informative 'Curriculum Overview' for each half term, along with vocabulary mats for science and topic.  Finally, don't forget to take a look at our photos in the 'Gallery of Our Learning' area.
