Learn Together, Enjoy Together, Achieve Together

P.E and Sports

At Addison, our vision is to inspire every child to develop a lifelong love of physical activity and sport.

We use the Complete PE program to deliver a high-quality curriculum that ensures all children have the opportunity to develop the fundamental movement skills needed to excel in a variety of physical activities. In addition to improving physical competence, our PE curriculum is designed to nurture cognitive skills such as decision-making, problem-solving, and social skills, including teamwork and communication.

Swimming is an important part of our PE curriculum and is taught from Year 2 through to Year 6. These sessions are carefully planned to ensure that all children meet the national curriculum requirements for swimming by the end of Year 6. This includes being able to swim at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively, and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

Tennis is also a sport that we take part in from Year 1 through to Year 6. At Brook Green, professional tennis coaches work with children over several weeks, helping them to develop and progress their skills. These sessions focus on improving techniques such as serving, rallying, and footwork, giving children the chance to build their confidence and enjoyment in the sport.

Throughout the year, children will participate in a wide range of sporting activities, both within PE lessons and through additional opportunities outside the curriculum. These experiences are carefully planned to ensure that every child can develop their abilities, confidence, and enjoyment in sport.
