Welcome to Blueberries Class! Early Years education at Addison is child centered and provides a nurturing, safe and engaging environment for the children to learn and thrive. In Reception every child is recognised as a unique individual and we are committed to unlocking the potential of every child through a progressive curriculum that inspires children. We identify and celebrate the children’s strengths and support their areas for development.

 

Throughout Reception, children are offered opportunities to develop their social skills and form positive relationships with peers and adults alike. The children are encouraged to be independent in their learning, with adults facilitating when required.

RWI at Addison

 At Addison, we aim for all our children to become fluent, confident readers who are passionate about reading.

We use the Read Write Inc (RWI) programme to get children off to a flying start with their literacy.

 

What is Read Write Inc?

Read Write Inc (RWI) is a phonics complete literacy programme which helps all children learn to read fluently and at speed so they can focus on developing their skills in comprehension, vocabulary and spelling. The programme is designed for children aged 4-7.

The programme is designed for children aged 4-7. However, at Addison, we begin the programme in Nursery and will continue teaching RWI to children beyond the age of 7, as we use a stage not age approach.

 

Using RWI, the children learn to read effortlessly so that they can put all their energy into comprehending what they read. It also allows them to spell effortlessly so that they can put all their energy into composing what they write.
